Nuclei in unprecedented precision

The experimental setup for studies of reactions with relativistic radioactive beams R3B is an essential part of the FAIR project. The goal of the international collaboration R3B is the development and construction of a versatile reaction setup with high efficiency, acceptance and resolution for kinematically complete measurements of reactions with high-energy radioactive beams.

The setup will be located in the focal plane of the high energy branch of the Super-FRS. The experimental setup is based on the so-called LAND setup, introducing a significant improvement in terms of resolution and data readout. This will allow the additional observation of light (target-like) recoil particles, which in turn will provide information about the reaction as such.
